CrossFit: It’s a training method
When you think of CrossFit, what comes to mind?
We recently performed a survey in our gym which hosts a wide range of members from competitive athletes to our predomen membership base of normal people wanting to get fitter. We found that a high amount of members who did not particualy follow classes but paticipated in our CrossFit classes had the impression that CrossFit was just the competitive part of our gym and that they were not really part of the 'CrossFit' side of things. We realised that we had failed to successfully educate ort members that while the competitive side of CrossFit exists it’s only a tiny piece of what CrossFit really is.
CrossFit is a training method, not a competition
At its heart, CrossFit is a training methodology designed to help everyday people get fitter, stronger, and healthier — no matter your age, fitness level, or experience.
Most people who do CrossFit never compete.
They come to the gym for
:✅ Expert coachin
✅ Varied, functional workouts
✅ A supportive community
✅ Improved strength, fitness, and confidence
✅ Better mobility and health in everyday life
So what happens in a normal CrossFit class?
In a typical CrossFit class, you’ll find people of all ages and abilities training together. You might see someone in their 20s doing the same workout as someone in their 60s — just adjusted to suit their fitness level.
The magic of CrossFit is that everyone works at their own pace, using weights or movements that suit them personally. The goal isn’t to beat the person next to you, it’s to challenge yourself and improve a little every day.
Who is CrossFit really for?
CrossFit is for anyone who wants to:
✅ Get fitter in less time
✅ Learn new skills
✅ Build strength safely
✅ Be part of a friendly, motivating community
✅ Feel healthier and more energetic every day
You don’t need to be fit to start, you just need to be willing to show up and try.
But what about competitions?
Yes - CrossFit does have a competitive side! Some members enjoy testing themselves in local competitions, and the sport side can be a fun challenge for those who want it.
But for most people, CrossFit is simply about showing up, moving your body, improving your fitness, and having fun with no competition required.
